Why the Un-Resolution is the New Year’s Trend You Need

Every January 1st, we all feel the pressure to turn into some superhuman version of ourselves. We stop doing everything that’s "bad for us." Sound familiar?

But let’s be honest: That’s not sustainable. And the truth? Most of us don’t even make it past February before we’ve already “failed.” (Spoiler: 92% of people don’t stick to their resolutions, according to stats). So, how about we ditch the pressure and try something different this year? Enter the Un-Resolution.

What’s the Un-Resolution?

It’s simple: You don’t need to change everything about yourself. Instead of setting big, stressful goals that lead to guilt when you inevitably don’t meet them, let’s just embrace who we already are and focus on small, achievable wins. It's about feeling good right now, not waiting for that "perfect version" of you that society says you need to become.

Why You Need the Un-Resolution

  1. You’re Already Awesome.
No need to overhaul your life. Instead of focusing on what’s “wrong” with you, take a moment to appreciate all the amazing things you’ve already done. You made it through the year—celebrate that!

  2. Forget Perfection.
This year, let go of the need to be perfect. Small wins, consistent progress, and doing what feels good are far better than pushing yourself to achieve some impossible goal.

  3. No More Guilt.
The Un-Resolution is about self-compassion. Life is messy, and it’s okay to fall short. Just be kind to yourself and keep going.

How to Rock the Un-Resolution:

  • Set small, achievable goals. Want to work out more? Try "20 minutes of movement, 3 times a week." Easy, right?
  • Celebrate your wins, even the small ones. Got out of bed and made breakfast? That’s a victory.
  • Be your own best friend. Don’t beat yourself up when you don’t meet a goal. Show yourself some love.
  • Rest. Recharge. Repeat. Take time for YOU without feeling guilty.

Final Thoughts

This year, ditch the pressure and go for the Un-Resolution. Focus on what feels good, celebrate what you’ve already accomplished, and remember that you’re perfect as you are—no drastic changes needed.

Here’s to a stress-free, guilt-free, and super fun year. You’ve got this.

Frankly, I think those kind of “become superhuman” resolutions are indicative of a massive lack of pride. What do y’all MEAN you’re here in this profoundly unfair world and instead of calling for change y’all are dutifully resolving to change your bodies and/or become more industrious in order to fit into it better?! Couldn’t be me. There is nothing that could be wrong with me that is even CLOSE to what’s wrong with people like Trump, Musk and Bezos.
