Colour in the Cold - Wrap up
Diving back in
Ok, so upon greater reflection, it's fair to say that perhaps July was a little bit later than necessary for Colour in the Cold 2021. We promise next year, we'll put it back to June!
Our Zeenya community are a bunch of legends, with 42 people registered to take part all around New Zealand, we knew it was going to be a fun day on the 18th of July.
With the help of our fans and amazing Ambassadors we had groups take a dip in cold water to help us raise much needed funds for Variety - the Children's Charity and their winter appeal. The idea of course, is we get cold so others can be warm.
Events were hosted in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Raurimu (yes that's near Tongariro National Park), Palmerston North and Christchurch. Sadly and wisely, due to the massive weather event in Wellington, it was cancelled this year because the water wasn't safe to swim in (even a week later). Some people took part with friends or by themselves and we are so appreciative of everyone who took on the challenge this year.
Here in Tauranga we lept from the Wharf at Pilot Bay with nearly 15 jumpers and almost double the amount of onlookers who cheered us on and laughed in delight at our squeals and choice words. Sometimes you've just got to let them out!
Together we raised $1300 for Variety which will give Kiwi kids warm blankets and beds, helping them to stay cosy and healthy this winter.
We had awesome sponsors who provided a range of treats for those that took part and sent us in their snaps of proof. Thank you to Life in Motion, Maquinky, ZeroTwenty2 SportsCo, Tailwind NZ and Websters Tea for supporting our swimmers. We know that your contributions made people's days when they heard they'd won a prize.
A massive thank you to everyone who supported - we'll be back making a splash again in 2021!
